April fool’s day…Not just for fools!
As a kid, we eagerly awaited April 1st every year so that we could prank others and have some fun. The moment we hear of April 1st even now, the first thought that crosses mind is of a joke or just an old memory of a similar exhilarating moment from our past.
However, April 1st isn’t just about it being the Fools day. It is associated with many significant events you should know about. Here are few of those:
In the state of Odisha, it is observed as Odisha Day or Utkal Divas and is a state-wide holiday for all the schools and offices. To most, it gives an opportunity to have short getaways to numerous under-glorified naturally beautiful destinations of Odisha.
All the banks in India are closed on this day because this marks the beginning of the financial year every year.
One of the largest computing companies, Apple Inc, was founded on April 1st, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne
Legalization of the same-sex marriages
Netherlands became the first country to give the legal status to the same-sex marriages on April 1st, 2001
Big Bang theory
The year 1952 gave us this phenomenal moment on April 1st when the Big Bang theory was given by Alpher, Bethe and Gamow. This completely changed the way the world used to think about the history of the universe.
And of course, the Fools day! There is nothing that replaces the opportunity we have on this day to have fun. Regardless of all those accomplishments and interesting facts, it’s our birthright to play pranks, crack jokes and celebrate the Fools day in style.
